HJMT’S VICE PRESIDENT OF CLIENT SERVICES TEACHES GIRL SCOUTS ABOUT PUBLIC RELATIONS

Westbury, NY June 10, 2009 – On Saturday, April 25th, Lori Alexy, Vice-President of Client Services at HJMT COMMUNICATIONS, LLC, taught a group of Girl Scouts about the “ins and outs” of public relations and social media. When the course was over, the girls received an Interest Project Badge.

Ms. Alexy educated the Girl Scouts of Nassau County about the different aspects of Public Relations and the basic terminology that is used daily by PR professionals. The girls then broke into “companies” where each group created a name, logo and tagline.

“Public Relations is an exciting profession which made it that much easier to teach the girls about the field,” said Ms. Alexy. “The girls were able to learn firsthand what a day in the life of a public relations professional is like. I hope I was able to inspire some of them to think about a career in PR in the future.”

Following the creation of their “companies,” Ms. Alexy showed the girls how to write press releases, generate publicity updates for Twitter accounts, and plan a launch party. At the end of the session, each of the Girl Scout groups gave a presentation about their “company” and what they learned from the project.
