Test Email Frequency
You’d be surprised by how many companies actually underuse their in-house email list,” says Mr. Norton.
Most companies can email at least once a week if not bi-weekly without seeing a significant increase in “unsubscribes.” Mr. Norton suggests one offer email and one information email such as a newsletter.
“You should test the boundaries until your stats tell you to stop, otherwise you are leaving money on the table,” he says.

PPC, or “pay per click” advertising is very effective, but also very expensive. Put some of that money towards increasing your organic ranking, called SEO or “search engine optimization.”
Mr. Norton’s company, Active Web Group, recently obtained a top ranking for a client for a very competitive keyword that they were spending $3.00 per click on. They were getting about 500 clicks per month. They now get 400 clicks from organic and pay $45 a month in maintenance for this term. Bottom line? Their PPC budget has been cut in half and their website traffic has increased 300%.
“While SEO is not as exact a science as PPC, it is inexpensive to maintain and still drives business,” says Norton.
