NASSAU COUNTY SUPREME COURT GETS A SPECIAL TREAT

Girl Scouts of Nassau Countystopped into the Nassau County Supreme Court on Tuesday, February 16th to show their appreciation for the jurors by handing out boxes of their famous Girl Scout Cookies!

With more than 300 jurors in attendance, the girls gave each juror one box of cookies, including Thin Mints, Samoas, Do-Si-Does and their newest addition, Thank U Berry Munch.

“Being a Girl Scout means honoring and serving the community and our country,” said Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County. “By giving our girls the opportunity to meet the jurors we are showing them how the mission and values the Girls Scouts are founded upon are put into action.”

The Girl Scouts were greeted by members of the court, including Judge Angela Iannacci and the President of the Nassau County Bar Association, Emily Franchina. Both spoke to the girls about their jobs and the importance of the justice system.

The visit goes along with World Thinking Day, a national Girl Scout and Girl Guide event that celebrates World Understanding. It is also a day for girls to reflect on the values and principles of being a Girl Scout, which mirror the civic responsibility of jurors.

Girl Scouts of Nassau County builds girls of courage, confidence and character. Girl Scouting in Nassau County creates an accepting and nurturing environment, which gives girls a chance to build character and receive skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them throughout their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. With more than 22,000 girl and 7,000 adult members, Girl Scouts of Nassau County has become the preeminent organization and leading authority for girls. The organization, now in its 98th year, continues to make the world a better place one girl at a time.
