CHRISTENING OF CENTER OF INNOVATION AND EXCELLENCE (COIE)
The much anticipated opening of the Applied Science Center of Innovation and Excellence in Homeland Security (COIE) has finally arrived. Like a Naval vessel being prepared to begin its journey COIE will be christened on Friday, March 5th at 10am. The christening program will showcase the COIE, the Resident Research Partners as well as the building’s current and future capabilities.
Public Officials who will be speaking include Congressman Steve Israel, New York State Senator Dean Skelos, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and FDNY Commissioner Salvatore Casano.
The COIE vision was to create a nationally recognized Center of Innovation and Excellence focused on the convergence of technology to serve the first responder community and the Homeland Security market.
The COIE brings together the combined skills and commitment of industry, government and academia. Its focus will be turning ideas into market driven products and systems to serve the homeland security needs of the region, the state while creating jobs in New York State.
