FOOD AND WINE TASTING TO BENEFIT CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
Are you a food lover? If so, you don’t want to miss the School for Language and Communication Development’s (SLCD) 9th Annual Chefs for Children Food & Wine Tasting on Wednesday, March 24th at the Jericho Terrace in Mineola from 6:30 – 10:00 p.m. Register now and get the chance to experience more than 35 local Long Island eateries all under one roof!
“We hope our local community takes action and registers for this night of fun and fabulous food and drink,” said Dr. Ellenmorris Tiegerman, Founder and Executive Director of SLCD. “Afterall, events like these help us spread awareness for autism and language disorders and also raises funds for SLCD’s current programs and initiatives that directly impact our students for the better.”
Attendees will have the chance to win a variety of exciting Grand Prize Raffles and Raffle Baskets while sampling culinary delicacies from local Long Island and Queens establishments such as Banfi Vintners, LaBonne Bolangerie and Uncle Bacala’s. Tickets are $75 and sponsorships for the event are still available. The School for Language and Communication Development provides special education services to children with language disorders including those along the autism spectrum continuum. SLCD’s program has grown from 36 preschoolers to more than 400 children ages 18 months to 21 years in elementary, middle and high school programs. As SLCD celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year, its mission to meet the special needs of children unable to speak or communicate still remains constant and the School’s motto “Language Learning for Lifelong Success” is continuously upheld.
