STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS EXHIBIT ARTWORK

“A picture is worth a thousand words.” The students from the School for Language and Communication Development (SLCD) certainly understand the meaning of that quote as they have been eagerly producing their works of art to share with family, friends, and the community at a special art exhibit at the JBS Gallery in Manhattan on Wednesday, March 3rd from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

“We are extremely blessed to have such talented students at our school and cannot wait for them to be able to show off all of their hard work and dedication,” said Dr. Ellenmorris Tiegerman, Founder and Executive Director of SLCD. “We cannot thank Joseph Sprung enough for allowing us the chance to display our children’s artwork and utilize the beautiful JBS Gallery. Our students are so excited to be able to share their masterpieces for all to see.”

All proceeds from the Art Show will increase awareness for children with language disorders and autism and benefit SLCD’s current programs and initiatives.

Joseph Sprung, owner of the JBS Gallery and Founder of the non-profit organization, Beargivers.org, comments, “We are more than happy to host this exhibit for the second time. We know it will give the greater New York City community a chance to see what these talented children can do and how SLCD promotes creativity while encouraging a sense of pride for a job well done.”

For more information on the SLCD Art Gallery Exhibit, contact the School for Language and Communication Development at 516-609-2000 ext. 123.

Founded in 2002 by Joseph B. Sprung, Beargivers.org is a non-profit organization committed to bringing joy to the lives of children and adults alike with the ageless gift of a lovable teddy bear. At Beargivers.org, the organization believes that the altruism of some can affect the lives of many, and that the support of a furry friend can make life more BEARable for all.

The School for Language and Communication Development provides special education services to children with language disorders including those along the autism spectrum continuum. SLCD’s program has grown from 36 preschoolers to more than 400 children ages 18 months to 21 years in elementary, middle and high school programs. As SLCD celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year, its mission to meet the special needs of children unable to speak or communicate still remains constant and the School’s motto “Language Learning for Lifelong Success” is continuously upheld.
