SLCD’S 9TH ANNUAL CHEFS FOR CHILDREN FOOD AND WINE TASTING

The date has been set for the School for Language and Communication Development’s (SLCD) 9th Annual Chefs for Children Food & Wine Tasting! Mark your calendars now for Wednesday, March 24th and join SLCD supporters and friends at the Jericho Terrace in Mineola from 6:30 – 10:00 p.m. The Food & Wine Tasting brings together more than 35 local restaurants all under one roof allowing attendees the opportunity to sample cuisine and drink from each participating establishment in just one night.

“We are so grateful for the outpouring of support at last year’s Food & Wine Tasting that allowed us to increase awareness for children with language and autism disorders and raise funds for SLCD’s current programs and initiatives,” said Dr. Ellenmorris Tiegerman, Founder and Executive Director of SLCD. “We can only hope this year’s event is as successful and we look forward to spending the evening enjoying fabulous food and drink with all those dedicated to our students.”

Attendees will have the chance to win a variety of Chinese auction raffle prizes and three grand prizes while sampling culinary delicacies from local Long Island and Queens establishments such as LaBonne Bolangerie, London Lennies, Ben's Best Kosher Caterers, Manhattan Beer Distributor and Page One. Tickets are $75 and sponsorships for the event are still available. The School for Language and Communication Development provides special education services to children with language disorders including those along the autism spectrum continuum. SLCD’s program has grown from 36 preschoolers to more than 400 children ages 18 months to 21 years in elementary, middle and high school programs. As SLCD celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year, its mission to meet the special needs of children unable to speak or communicate still remains constant and the School’s motto “Language Learning for Lifelong Success” is continuously upheld.
